HOW TO DO LAXMI POOJA AT HOME THIS DIWALI 2024

Deepawali is celebrated every year on the Amavasya(New Moon) of the Kartik month of the Hindu Calendar .This year Diwali will be celebrated on 31st October .

Deepawali  celebrations are  celebrated for five days which includes

Dhanteras (29 October 2024)

Narakchaturdashi /Choti Diwali (30th October 2024)

Laxmi Pujan/ Badi Diwali (31st October 2024)

Gowardhan Puja (1st November 2024)

Bhai Dooj (3rd November 2024)

DIWALI PUJA MUHURAT:

This year Diwali can be celebrated on two dates ,31st October 2024 or 1st November .

Auspicious Diwali Muhurat for October 31, 2024

Laxmi Puja Muhurat : 6:52 pm to 8:41 pm ,31st October

Pradosh Kaal – 5:35 PM to 8:11 PM

 Vrishabha Kaal – 6:21 PM to 8:17 PM

Auspicious Diwali Muhurat for November 1, 2024

Lakshmi Puja Muhurat – 05:36 PM to 06:16 PM

 Pradosh Kaal – 05:36 PM to 08:11 PM

Vrishabha Kaal – 06:19 PM to 08:15 PM

PREPARATION FOR PUJA

Clean the whole house thoroughly in every corner. Usually Diwali cleaning takes around 3 to 7 day depending upon the area .It is said that Goddess Laxmi always enters through clean entrance so make sure that the entrance of your house is cleansed properly.

Gather all the things needed for pooja vidhi such as diyas(earthen lamps with oil and cotton wicks ) ,oil, ghee ,chowki (wooden table ) , kalash(pot with water, mango leaves and coconut on top )  ,mango leaves ,coconut ,Laxmi Ganesh idol or photo ,itra,(scent or perfume ) flowers ,fruits ,sweets ,etc.

  SET UP THE POOJA CHOWKI /ALTER

On a wooden chowki or table place a clean red or yellow cloth

Then sprinkle some Gangajal (holy water from Ganga River) to purify.

Take some Akshat ( washed and dried whole rice grain ) and place it on the cloth in the centre of the alter place the Laxmi and Ganesh Idols on it

Take a Kalash and fill it with water and put mango leaves and coconut on it as shown below :

Now take this kalash and place it on the left side of Lord Ganesha’s Idol or photo as shown below:

Fill the Diya (it can be earthen or any metal preferably brass or silver )

With ghee or oil (mustard or sesame) ,put a cotton wick in it and light it ,this represents the presence of divine energy .Place the Diya on right side of Goddess Laxmi  as shown above.

Now take 11 or 21 small   Clay Diya and fill then with ghee or oil ,place them in a big plate and light it up

Place this setting in front of the alter .:

LAXMI PUJAN VIDHI

Decorate Laxmi JI and Ganesh Ji with new Vastra (clothes)

Offer Janeu (white cotton thread)  to Bhagwan Ganesh

Apply Itra (perfume or scent) to both Laxmi and Ganesh idol

Also apply Kumkum and Sindoor to them .

Now offer rice flowers ,fruits (mainly 5 types or whatever is available )and sweets to the deities and pray  for a prosperous year ahead.

MEANING:

OM 🕉 is the primordial sound which connects us to all of creation through the vibrations of the source energy ⚡.

SHREEM is the beeja mantra of Goddess Lakshmi and instantly connects us to her vibration.

HREEM is also a beeja mantra for the purification of the heart and also of the divine Goddess which also invokes her immediate presence within and around us.

KAMALE means the purity of the lotus flower 🌷.

KAMALALAYE means to relate her to the purity of the lotus flower 🌷 and expounds on the glory of its beauty.

PRASEEDA is asking for the blessings and also describing the emanating presence of the divine Mother as being saturated with her blessings.

MAHA means great or glorious.

LAKAHMIYAI NAMAH means I surrender to the Great and Glorious Goddess.

To surrender one gives everything and gives up control as well as troubles to the divine.

This mantra of Mahalakshmi is a beeja mantra for wealth, prosperity and abundance. Removing negativity and poverty.
